... I read this morning in the KNS that not only has he missed his final two high school seasons due to separate knee injuries, but even prior to the injuries he had only played three years of organized football.

However, I seem to recall him being highly regarded - seems like he was considered a top 100 overall player - prior to his injury. His offer list is pretty strong for 5.6 three-star TE.

Is anyone familiar with Brooks' story, particularly his ranking prior to the injuries and what other schools he was interested in besides UT prior to the injury?
Did any other programs continue to recruit him after the latest injury.

The good news from the story - it was actually a positive article overall - was Brooks stating that his knee now feels 100-percent and while he realizes Tennessee has at least a couple of talented and more experienced TEs in front of him on the depth chart, he is arriving on campus with plans to compete for playing time this fall.

Personally, I'm proud of Tennessee for not wavering on Brooks after his second knee injury in as many years, and I'm pretty excited about his potential considering he is a 6'5", 225- pound true freshman who prior to injury was highly touted - by both recruiting analysts and college career coaches - with a limited amount of actual football experience.
It also doesn't hurt to gain a foothold in a talent hotbed like the Washington DC area.

I'm hoping for a quick summary on Brooks' skills from VQ Beltway know it all Rednav, but I would be happy if anyone could refresh my memory on Brooks background and how he was highly regarded before the injuries.
