So I live way out here in the boonies of west TN and of course we have critters. Everything from squirrels, to rabbits ,to armadillos to skunks. The skunks are a clear and present danger and action must be taken. Live capture is out. They crossed that line when they sprayed Dixie the cat.
I have a limited, but potentially formidable arsenal. I have a Remington 820, 20ga, chambered for 3" shells. I do have a limited supply of 00 Buckshot. I have a Sig 320, .45 with almost unlimited APC ammo. Last but not least I have a Camo, .177 Varmint air rifle 1320 fps.
The skunks are bold, rather pushy little bastards. The sportsman in me says the Gamo, but the Marine in me says to use extreme violence, so I want to use maximum firepower. I also need to be aware of the proximity/range of the beast. I'm leaning to the Remington 820, 00 Buck. I'm a pretty good shot, but what do the experts say? Should the Sig garner more consideration? The range will be 50-70 meters. Thanks da Dog
