Let me start this by offering thanks to Coach Jake. Let me follow by saying that I am very happy by his move. Coach Jake baffled me with play calling this year...whether it was.dropping back for long passes with Worley at the start of the year, running reverses to take us out of scoring position, or running Dobbs over and over late against Iowa therein risking the QBs health - - I have not been tremendously impressed. Our heavy reliance on screens and dump passes often got stale quickly. Add to this that Jake may lag his cohorts in recruiting prowess and I think we have a legitimate chance to upgrade the OC position. Do not misunderstand, we could do worse than Jake if we whiff this hire (see TJ Weist or a non spread OC), but if we manage it correctly we will have a good amount of choices to upgrade. I would love to see us bring in TCU's Cumbie or Arizona's Calvin Magee....but I am sure there are plenty of qualified candidates. The nice thing is that the Vols have a chance I would have never seen coming to upgrade a very important coaching position. Hit a home run and watch this team continue to rise just ask Auburn when they hired Mahlzahn. We just need to stay true to our identity and take our time for the right guy!
