Butch tried his best to energize the fanbase by signing as many instate guys as possible and I believe leaned too much on stars thrown out by Rivals, 247, Scout, etc. It did get us excited, and he meant well, but he just wasn't able to develop some of them and others didn't fit his scheme. A lot of wasted talent. Recruits later in his tenure caught onto this, and I think that's why his recruiting suffered down the stretch.

Coach Pruitt on the other hand is very calculated about who he wants. He watches a lot of film and combs over recruits. That's how and why he tells recruits during visits what he likes about them, how much weight they need to put on or lose, and things they need to work on.

It's easy to grow impatient with the slow recruiting process we're experiencing now, but I think in the long run we're going to see Coach Pruitt and his staff get the very most out of every player and see them stay in the program instead of transferring out.

This is why we need to let Coach Pruitt do his job and have patience with the process.

Butch meant well, and I hope he succeeds at his next head coaching job. I hope he learns from the mistakes that got him into trouble here.
