It is a very solid hot board. Not a head-scratcher in the bunch. Unless the search goes completely off the track, it looks like we will be getting a coach who we can have some faith in.
I'm kind of hoping we are loosening the purse strings a little and going for more of a proven commodity this time. My early preferences:
Top Tier:
Barnes. I think if you can hire him, you should. Instant credibility.
Prohm. Murray State is not chopped liver. Guy has been around, proven he can recruit and coach. Good program leader.
Either of these two would be strong hires, IMHO.
Good Choices:
Pitino. Not completely proven, but a great coaching background and a style of ball that we will enjoy.
Drew. Solid young coach with plenty of head coaching experience, but all at one place. A winner who seems ready for the next step.
Best Value:
Wade. If we have to take a risk, he's the best value. We could hire him and get behind him for the long term, but we could expect some bumps early on.
