@P_Fortenberry 's post about the offensive schemes got me thinking yesterday...get your tin foil out, because I have an overly optimistic, orange-tinted glasses theory on Mike Debord and his play calling philosophy.
What if Debord's M.O. this year is to start slow and lull the opposing defense to sleep before stabbing them in the throat over and over again? If you look at the 2nd quarter against VT and 3rd/4th against UF, that's what it feels like. Granted, we didn't execute in the first half vs. Florida, however, some of the plays he drew up were brilliant in the second half. The wing-t ish formation with the two h-backs, having Malone lined up in the backfield with Dobbs before motion, etc.
This offense and defense complement each other in a way that we are unstoppable in the second half of games. Both start slow, then, once the defense settles in, it shuts down the opposing offense, our offense pounces, we steal any and all momentum, and win in blowout fashion.
Butch "Maverick" Jones, Bob "Houdini" Shoop, and Mike "The Madman" Debord.
