I hope this doesn't turn into a thread full of fighting. Everyone should be proud of the fact that we had a shot going up at the end to win against a National Championship type team in our 1st road game.

The next step is learning how to close games. Not easy to do but this was a start. I don't believe in moral victories but I believe in progress and we saw that.

1) I thought Coach did a fantastic job of getting a young team ready to roll out of the gates. Camron Indoor and the Dean Dome are probably the 2 hardest places to play in the nation. Just the aura of playing UNC or Duke folds many teams. Rick out coached Roy today plain and simple. Thought Rick really showed how good he is.

2) The development of the guys is very encouraging. Shembari Phillips, Robert Hubbs are night and day from last year. The freshman continue to get better game by game. Bowden, Bone, Fulkerson, Williams and Turner all have legit game as freshman. Very impressive.

3) Fulkerson is a beast. Simply put. The kid sprints the floor every play regardless of if he gets the ball or not (which gasses the opposing big), he posts hard when he sprints (again gassed the opponent), he already has a go to post move in his baby hook, he can put the ball on the floor and finish, he can pass the rock with great vision, relentless rebounder. Fights for position in the post which is how he makes up for lack of strength on defense. Kid will be a star here.

4) Grant Williams and Fulkerson went toe to toe with 3 NBA bigs for UNC. They have length and mass and our guys were trading punches with them all night and honestly out played them. They battled their tails off on the boards and for freshman did as good as they possibly could have.

5) If we have Jordan Bone we win. Zero doubt in my mind. Turner was gassed but had to play. Bone is the true PG and would have made a difference. I believe Bone is the best player on the team. UNC's staple is pressure defense and pace of play. That is where you have to have a PG to run the offense. Hurt us today getting into our sets. Thankfully he will be back and we won't see another team like that this year (maybe UK but they play very differently).

Future is very bright IMO.
