It happens in other places. I was at this game and the same series of events that transpired at the Ole Miss game occurred. Tech‘s QB threw an interception in the first quarter that looked like it should have been reviewed and the Big 12 crew did not review it. The stadium jumbotron revealed that it was a close call and the crowd immediately turned on the refs. Thereafter, there were several big plays made by Tech that were reversed on replay and the vitriol grew to the point that it boiled over. These were 50/50 calls. Once the bottles were thrown, the game was stopped and two sections of the stadium were instructed to vacate their seats (these were student sections). The funny thing is that the students just moved over to unoccupied seats in adjacent sections and the game continued. Big 12 refs are just as bad as SEC refs. The only thing they had to do was review the first interception and this probably does not happen. For the Matt Campbell lovers (other than the Big 12 refs last night), Tech started a freshman QB (first start ever) with an interim Head Coach and put the most yards on Iowa State since 2017.
