Hats off to Appy State. They'll win double digits this year. Here's some quick thoughts.
1. We weren't going to shut out a gimmicky offense. Held them to 13 points, 7 from a short field. Tougher to tackle in the 1st game and we adjusted. D pulled through.
2. Our offensive game plan was the same bland, vanilla, don't get Dobbs hurt plan that we had against North Texas last year. App State studied it and game planned against it, not our Georgia/Florida/Bama game plans. Our line is not good enough without the misdirection help from our backfield.
3. We tried to wear down smaller d linemen and they wouldn't wear down. Their quickness gave us problems because of how much we move the line on runs. We won't see that level of quickness again this year.
4. Dobbs has proven that his legs get his arm in a rhythm. Not sure why this is but he's been that way his whole career. I thought our Bowling Green offensive game plan needs to be our game plan for any mid-majors we play.
