I was thinking about some of the expectations of Jabari Small this season, and unless I'm missing some guys, he'd be one of the few that did not explode onto the scene as a freshman.
For example, when Jamal Lewis was a sophomore and junior, we already knew what he was. Same for Henry and to a degree Travis Stephens. Although, I thought of Stephens since he was a dominant rusher as a senior when everyone thought he'd eventually relinquish his job to Cedric Houston or Jabari Davis.
I also thought of Tony Thompson but if memory serves, even Tony wouldn't have gotten his shot if not for injury to Chuck Webb.
Charlie Garner had a strong Junior season, but he came to UT as a Junior so that doesn't really count.
I guess what I'm getting at is that it seems like if a UT running back haven't really broken out by his freshman or at least sophomore season, then they rarely do.
Does Small change explode on to the scene as a Junior? I think he does.
