Another local star doesn't go to UT. This young man was rated the best RB in the country. His name is Leroy Thompson. I remember how people were upset including me. I was saying Leroy was a traitor. UT fans were ready to fire Johnny Majors because he let a local star go to Penn State. Fans were saying the UT Football program was doomed forever. Well! Losing Leroy Thompson wasn't the big blow we thought it would be. Another Knoxville product Reggie Cobb was already on the team plus the next year Chuck Webb came to UT. Webb was way better than Leroy Thompson.
Today Tee Higgins decides to commit to Clemson and a lot of fans go nuts. I would have loved to seen Tee Higgins go to UT. Tee Higgins is a great player. 1 player is not more important than UT. UT signed 2 darn good WR prospects in Tyler Byrd and Marquez Calloway. Lots of other top players are looking at UT. One thing I will never question is Butch Jones recruiting. He has proven he can recruit good football players.
