Auburn and a 1 seed

If they lose just 3 - 5 games, win the SEC regular season and conf tourney, how are they not a 1 seed?

Side note, I was sincerely hoping that we could overcome Auburn down the stretch, but that does not appear likely. We could win the tourney, but we haven't in 40 years so no confidence there either...
