Now that we are 6 games into the season, two things stand out: 1) We have no senior leadership and 2) We have no spark that those guys brought!
Our turnaround last season was due in part to those 5 seniors who became great leaders and provided a spark that we have not seen this year.
I think that Jalin Hyatt has the potential to be a fantastic WR for us and that Palmer is a steady receiver. We lost two huge stud receivers with the graduation of Jennings and Calloway. They were playmakers and Jennings was an alpha presence that is desperately missing.
I thought that Henry T. would take over the alpha role and be the next vocal leader. He might be one day, but is not there yet.
Something seems wrong with Trey Smith this year. When he is healthy, he blows up anyone and anything in his path. It doesn't seem like he is doing that this year. Does it seem that way to others?
When a team has little to no leadership presence from its upperclassmen and little to no spark, it's hard to have a solid season, especially in the SEC. We have neither and that explains a significant part of why we are where we are.
I still think that we have some very good talent in our sophomore class and in the freshmen class. They don't have anyone that is showing them the way. Let's get the freshmen as much playing experience these last four games as possible.
