Both the men's and the women's losses have been characterized by the same problems. First they have had unforced turnovers, when they stop running the offense (or never start running it) the guards are dribbling the ball out front instead of passing and lose the ball. Those turnovers resulted in layups and free throws at the other end. The team plays good defense but on breakaways the defense is not a factor because it is not set up.
Second, both teams have had games where they badly miss their free throws. Repeatedly missing 10 or more free throws in games you lose by 1 - 2 - 3 points just hurts. Missing the front end of a "one and one" is normally just like a turnover, the other team has the ball and you do not have a score. Missing an "And One Free Throw" is almost like losing an extra possession.
