A few topics it would be great to hear your thoughts on please...
1) J Jennings...Regardless of this particular receiver core or this particular offense, is J Jennings a "drive changing" talent at WR in 2015? It seems obvious by now that he is probably gonna get on the field regularly (as he continues to learn more each week) and pretty much anyone in the rotation would certainly catch a few balls simply being there, but is Jennings more than that in 2015? Is he a guy who you expect to be making key plays on 3rd down by October? Turning 11 yard catches into 30 yard gains after a broken tackle or getting open down the field? Or is your money on a solid but unspectacular 15 reception, 100 yard type season simply fitting in the offense with the real jump coming later on? No one is saying he's anything like a CP in 2012, and it's not fair to expect too much from a rookie anyway, but from my viewpoint there is just way too much consistent good news around him to be one of these 6th or 7th option guys.
2) Coleman Thomas...Are you prepared (or specifically not prepared) to officially opine that he is a "changed player" at this point? And by changed I don't mean All-SEC or even particularly great, but it would be some nice for some people on this board to be told by someone they trust that "look, he is gonna start and yes he is gonna occasionally get beat, but it's in no way gonna be like 2014. He is also capable of going a whole series w/o an issue between the occasional mess up. He will get his hat on guys. He has made some real strides." Or, is that just not the case yet?
3) It seems to me that Owen Williams and Danny O Brien each look a little bigger, better this year. Is that your take on it? When I see them in videos they seem to be in good shape.
4) I cannot remember a time when our offense had the potential to be so many totally different, and dangerous things on any given play. Run anywhere with Hurd, run anywhere w Kamara. Read option with Dobbs keeping. QB draw with Dobbs. Jet sweep with Pig Howard. Screens to Hurd or Kamara, Howard in the slot. TE's in all sorts of routes, Quick passes or bubble screens to Howard or J Smith. Deeper to Pearson, Malone, Smith, North further down field...trick plays...etc etc... Plus, they are pretty much all fairly experienced. They have the smarts to employ such a large, diverse playbook.....all of these constant options are hard to account for by the defense... So, what do you think this is worth a game? It's obvious that our OL is never gonna allow us to win an SEC game simply by pounding it, or dropping back deep over and over again either, but it seems to me that even with C plus, B minus play out of the OL that we can get out there and average 27-30 points per SEC game. This offense is capable of getting the ball in the redzone 5 or 6 times a contest. Debord seems like he is very capable. What do you think? Last year we would have almost hit that w Dobbs playing against UF and Bama full time.
5) Jack Jones...if we assume he starts, how do you rate his physical readiness as compared to JR's last year? As compared to C Thomas' last year?
6) Do you see any chance of a Kerbyson, Kendrick, Robertson, Jones, and Thomas starting 5? Is the staff willing to go all new on the interior of that line?
7) Is Kyle Phillips physical enough to make plays against UGA and UF in the early season? We know the motor is already there, but is the power?
8) Mixon looks much improved from spring? Are my eyes messed up?
