When you do to an NBA/D-League game this is the way they look. Yves has legitimate NBA level athleticism and measurables.
After watching film from the FIBA U-17 games (very high level of competition), looking at his stats over the last few years and readind some scouting reports I wanted to give my thoughts.
1) Big time athlete- Shows up in transition, him going to the rim, rebounding and blocking shots. When he dunks his head is at the rim. Robert Hubbs type jumping ability except he is taller and longer.
2) Elite defender- Scouting reports I read said he has "elite lateral quickness" which is huge from him defending wings. He can challenge shots at the rim and rebound at a high level. Physical and big enough to bang in the post. Has very long arms that will allow him to challenge shots to bigger guys.
3) Getting to the rim- This is his game. Explosive 1st step, covers a lot of ground and finishes at the rim. This is more for entertainment because it doesn't translate much but he pulls off dunks in game that could be in a dunk contest.
4) Shooting- He is not a great shooter but also not a poor shooter. Remember the international 3 point line is deeper than college. He has shown the ability to hit the 3 which will be big as they will have to play him honest which opens up his driving. Ball comes out of his hand cleanly.
5) Ball handle- needs to work to tighten up. This is an easy fix and can be improved with work. But he isn't much of a handler at this point. More 1 or 2 dribbles.
My take- this is a perfect fit for our team. He can play the role that Robert Hubbs plays for us at the 4. Big time athlete who has a unique game. Tennessee has a good team and in the future they will be very good. If I had one concern it was that I would have liked them to add some athleticism and that is Yves. If he played in the States there is no question he would be a Top 50 prospect and probably closer to Top 30 (that's how incredible his athleticism is).
