So I know this has been talked about at nauseam but I, one of many, have been very critical of Chaney. I have also had many point out he’s a great OC just doesn’t have all the pieces. So I watched about 1 hour of what I could find of his time at Georgia and Pitt. It opened my eyes a little bit for sure. Now I still think he could be more creative than he is right now but I think I understand a little bit more after watching.
His time at Pitt was pretty interesting in what he done. Everyone knows what he did with Peterman. However they really utilized the TE position in the pass game and I saw quite a bit mesh in his offense. Lots of motion, misdirection and vertical plays. Lots of combo routes as well. Same at Georgia except more WR sweeps. He was very pass happy at the beginning at Georgia but, after Smart probably got into him, was very balanced in run/pass about 4-5 games in.
At both places he had a QB, OL and TE he used in the passing game. We think we have an OL but definitely don’t have the other two. I want to see what his offense looks like once we have all 3. If not improved then make a change.
