Currently we have 28 commitments. Here’s how I think we finish the class:
I think we land Conliffe – he’s got a longstanding relationship with the coaches; he’s been here multiple times as compared to just 1X for UF; he isn’t even taking an OV to Bama which either means they feel like he’s too far down their board to end up getting to and/or he’s decided that he’s not enough of a priority for them and he’s moved on. The UF site on TOS seems to think we pushed for a commitment last night since we're tight on numbers and he didn't tip his hand so therefore they are in better shape than anyone thinks. Could be true, but I just don't see it.
I think we land Ray in a massive upset and Butch tells haters to eat sh!t
I think Sterling becomes a Cock (I think we’d take him and the other two DL and figure it out, but sounds like we’re too far behind and he’s still got his Scar OV this weekend
I can’t see us landing Etienne or Barrett. Judging by offer lists both of them are clearly superior prospects to Coleman (and Jordan, frankly), and everything else being equal I would prefer either/both of them to Coleman/Jordan. And that’s despite me thinking both of Coleman/Jordan are very good prospects in their own right. But as much as this is a cutthroat business and Butch has done similar things before, I just cannot see him dropping Coleman at the very last minute. Maybe I’m wrong. It may be moot because Etienne may be too much of an LSU lean (I don’t see Clemson) and Barrett is a longstanding AU commit and they now have an OC. I’ll be interested to see if we still bring in Lovett and/or Matthews this weekend, pending Etienne today of course
I think we lose/drop Jacquez Jones, for reasons I’ve stated before (mostly that he’s not solid and may have academic concerns given his visits have been to USF and UCF (gets us to 29)
I think we blueshirt or greyshirt Cimaglia and Fant (gets us to 27). I actually think we might try and greyshirt Payton since he has academic issues, but that wouldn’t cost us a 2017 spot
Remember that we signed a total of 23 last year, including Jeremy Lewis (terrible move), so in theory (and I don’t know how this all works) we can backcount 2 from last year, which would take us to 25
Those gets push us firmly into the final Top 10, as they push lower-rated guys out of the top 20 signees that are counted for rankings.
