After a great night out with friends and a good night’s sleep, here are my thoughts.
1. Pruitt needs to be the guy. It’s that simple. He is growing on the job and, while this lesson is costly and highly visible, we need him to succeed.
2. Having said point 1, the QB problem is all his, partly Chaney and partly Weinke. Jeremy is head coach and CEO. Buck stops with him. Chaney’s play calling is challenged by the QB but still not sound. If Maurer or Shrout can’t run plays, that’s Weinke’s room and he owns that.
3. Defense concern is the slants. We are starting games salty on D and they tire out. Also, my personal feeling the D quit rallying around the QB clearly yesterday. QB’s last six quarters have been laughable.
4. Where to go/what to do. I would can Weinke today. I would develop platoon system for Bama game with JG 4th emergency option. I would deploy Kiffin/Florida type game plan to massively shorten game to a 35-38 to 10 beat down. All effort towards prep for last 5 game run.
