Tennessee chose to allocate their 10 Assistant Coach positions as 6 on Offense and 4 on Defense. Losing Brumbaugh leaves them with just 3 Defensive Coaches, with two of them (Niedermeyer and Felton) being relatively inexperienced. The Head Coach is now the primary coach of the DL and the Defensive Coordinator is the primary coach of the Defensive Backfield.
Meanwhile, the Offensive Coordinator is a “walk around” working with 5 other position coaches.
