1. Give Shoop the ability to hire who he wanted on defense. With two conditions, they are a top 15 recruiter and they are known in the coaching circles for player development/talent evaluations. He would have one season to get his head out of his 4th point of contact.
2. Hire Mark Helfrich immediately as offensive coordinator.
3. Hire the best possible strength and conditioning coach and nutritionist money can buy. Chris Doyle? Darren Krein? Alabama's Amy Bragg over the nutrition program.
4. Dameyune Craig, Rodney Garner, or Tee Martin Wide Receivers Coach and recruiting coordinator. Defense fir Garner and Associate head coach.
5. Hire BARNEY FARRAR as the Assistant A.D. of High School and Junior College relations.
6. Hire RICK TRICKETT or HARRY HIESTAND as offensive line coach.
7. Hire George Whitfield or Steve Clarkson as quarterback coach.
8. Have a "Tennessee" only summer camp for instate talent to show how important they are to the University. I would also encourage family members, high school coaches, and "friends of the family" to attend.
Starters next year Defense:
Abernathy and Warrior at safeties, Buchanon and Byrd at corner with Gaulden at nickel. Bituli, Kirkland, and Kelly(same mold as Burnett) as linebackers. Kongbo, Vikers, Johnson, Phillips is your line.
Startes on Offense:
JG is your QB, receivers are Jennings, Calloway, and Johnson. Wolf TE, line will be Richmond, Robertson, Thomas, Jones, and Hall. RB will be Kelly.
I have taken in consideration Mckenzie, Sapp, and Tuttle will not be 100%
