I’ve been a huge Pruitt fan, but 3 Butch-esque things are super concerning

1) Giving up the slants. If there’s anything Pruitt brings to the table it’s supposed to be his defensive mind. Yet, we have been torched all season long on easy, short slants. So much so that the announcers of basically every game have lamented about it.

Yet what does Pruitt say when asked about it? Blow it off. And apparently that’s what he’s done coaching wise, as it hasn’t stopped at all. If anything, it might be getting even worse. We’re giving up easy throws/yards rather than forcing QB’s to beat us making tough passes. It’s infuriating

2) Not kicking the FG tonight. That was an elementary coaching decision that anyone with common sense knew what to do. Pruitt has been pretty good so far with decisions like this, but tonight was a Butch level failure

3) His reluctance to play Bailey. If this season is a throw away season like it appears to be at this point, then at least give the fans some hope and prepare your QB for next year. If the season doesn’t matter then the freshman’s growing pains shouldn’t either.

Him continuing to trot out a lame duck QB that the fans hate/ will be gone after this year shows that he doesn’t grasp the bigger picture. Reminds me of Butch refusing to replace Worley with Dobbs.

I’m still very supportive (because we don’t have an alternative to be honest) but I am much more pessimistic than I have been at any point so far

It’s pretty ironic that he is so reluctant to give Bailey snaps because he (or true freshman Salter) is really his only chance of surviving here
