All anyone should have to do is think about how easily this destroys the lives in nursing homes to get perspective. Could this have killed 50% or more of the very vulnerable population? Maybe less......if this saved even a small % of that population which would be 100s of 1000s......fine with me. We all know people in that category. What if that group is you the next time this happens in let's say 20 years or so?
We will never know how bad it could have gotten for the elderly or those with health issues. My guess is very bad if it was treated like past viruses.
I almost guarantee I would have gotten it bc of my lifestyle/ job and wife being a nurse. And good chances I would have given to my dad who's 84 and he would have given it to half his aging congregation etc etc.
We need to keep perspective and yes..... unfortunately in a situation like this we will never know how had it could have gotten and that's a good thing. It's one of the few times it's good to take extreme measures. I only hope we learn how to be better prepared for it across the board next time bc there will be a next time unfortunately. That includes better testing, a better unemployment system, more PPE and sanitizer, increased emergency health care, etc etc. That list is long and above my education level but we as a world and country should learn a ton from this and prepare for the next time. We didn't 10 years ago.
