We lost several games last year and some this year because of our lack of
three point shooting.
Kortney Dunbar is by far the best three point shooter on the team. She is 6'2"
and can shoot from really long range. She almost never plays. When she does
she comes in, hurriedly misses a couple of shots and is back on the bench.
They may lose something on defense and rebounding when she plays but it is
criminal to keep her on the bench, particularly when the other team is playing
zone, and we need three point shooting.
In a recent game the other team played a cute little zone where they always had two
people shifting to guard our post player. The Lady Vols ran a weave which involved
a lot of dribbling. I learned in the church league that quick passes that the zone
defense can't quickly adjust to are an important option.
The Lady Vols never adjusted and continued the same offense they run against
man defenses. That is poor coaching, particularly at this level.
I feel sorry for Holly but she isn't doing the job.
