Jauan Jennings' sixth grade nephew hauled in a damn circus catch last night to help lead his South Middle School Trojans to a win over their biggest rival, North Middle School. I'm not sure how long the losing streak was, but I'm gonna say exactly as long as ours to Bama since it's close and that suits my purposes. Oddly enough, the two teams face each other again at the end of the season (which is actually true, and not made up by me, this time). Y'all see what I'm doing here, I think.

Maybe a third or fourth and about 15 to go, 'Zayah runs the go route. Good coverage, but also a good throw, and he sort of catches it behind the DB's back, who hadn't turned to look. Down they go together and the balls pops free, up in the air. He caught it again, laying on his back. First and goal on the 1, maybe a 35 yard completion, which may or may not be a world record completion for middle school ball.

He had one other catch for a TD and the QB had a great game as well. Oh, yeah, JJ's brother is the new head coach. They run a no huddle spread, with a touch of the I-formation here and there due to the 247 lb RB they have (I swear I didn't make that up, either). Passed for more yards last night than all last year, maybe, when they ran two tights, two wings for two yards and a cloud of dust (yes, two).

Scouting report on Zayah is 'look out'. He'll probably wind up significantly quicker and faster than JJ (who is not slow, imo). He's got good height now, but not sure where he's going there, of course. Might hear more about him someday. Good three-sport athlete (or more, I guess. Think he's bound to run track, too). Has a twin brother as well, but they're fraternal. The twin is a fine athlete too, but doesn't have as much height yet.
