Let's say UT was to throw $4m at a coach. Who would you say we go after? I don't see someone out there that is worth that much to me (that is actually attainable). This guy that you sign for $4m x 6 years better be a guarantee because otherwise you're on the hook for $20m in 4 years from now when you fire him.
I don't think a guy like Smart or Marshall warrants that kind of commitment. So who does? Historically, the best hires in non-blueblood programs has been to hire good mid major coaches and hope they succeed. I have no problem with that route as long as Hart doesn't try to win the press conference and instead hires a coach that fits the criteria we set forth for a successful coach at UT.
But I'm curious to hear who people would think is a guarantee winner here at UT. I would try $4m for a few guys. Just don't think they're attainable.
