I don't have an issue with the KNS reporting the facts around the story in today's issue.
The timing was questionable, for sure. Can't imaging why it wasn't reported in August when the case was resolved. That was public record and the KNS should have someone reviewing public records. I'm not a journalist but I thought that being thorough and timely was part of the gig.
I do have an issue with them putting it as an above-the-fold headline story in a weekend edition on a day when there are several big sports related stories to be covered. Tennessee plays Georgia at home and is fighting to remain in the NCAA Tourney hunt, UT Softball season starts, Todd Helton is back on campus and working with the baseball program, two of Tennessee's greatest basketball teams are back for reunions, etc.
I guess it goes along with the media's ongoing confusing of 'breaking news' with 'sensational news'. Sign of the times and indicative of the death of print journalism.
