4 — 9:00 p.m. tip-offs…are garbage..looking at you SEC
Consider tonight’s ill-conceived SEC slate, two games involving four teams in the Central Time Zone—Arkansas at Ole Miss and Texas A&M at Missouri—tipped off at 7 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. local time for all four of those teams.
Then, someone in their infinite wisdom, decided that only two schools who call the Eastern Time Zone home should tip-off at 9 p.m., successfully manage to inconvenience fans of all six Southeastern Conference teams in action tonight.
This kind of tone deaf scheduling seems to me to do a real disservice to fans on all fronts.
Additionally, since we’re ostensibly keeping the welfare of the student athlete in mind, South Carolina will be lucky to get back to Columbia before 3 a.m. tonight while Arkansas and Texas A&M were back in College Station and Fayetteville to watch the end of the Vols’-‘Cocks’ game.
It shouldn’t be this hard, and minimizing home court advantage is a big deal in a sport where it’s proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to matter more than in any other.
Rob, great work!
