Even though we beat two rivals this year, and won the Battle at Bristol, the program will have regressed. I don't see Butch getting us back to prominence. Good recruiter, decent guy, but not an SEC Championship level coach. Not sure how long he will be here, but I think he has reached his ceiling. Not sure who can get the job done at Tennessee. This takes me back to an old adage my grandfather passed on to me...don't mess up a good thing. Looking back, we should have never forced Fulmer out. Looking back, if we just kept Phil around, we would be in a much better position today. Certainly couldn't be worse than what we've gone through. Phil was getting us to Atlanta at least once every three years. Haven't been since his departure. If Phil would have stayed we probably would have went to Atlanta in 2010, 2013, and you guessed it: 2016. 2016 was always the year, but not for Butch, not for Dooley, not for Kiffin, 2016 was the year for Fulmer. I guess we'll see what happens.
Many will be happy when we finish 10-3...
