Called my Dad today. He'll be 87 next week. His heroes are/were Neyland, Cafego, Wyatt, Lauricella, Rechichar, Atkins, and Majors. He's a VFL.
He's been battling prostate cancer for about 10 years. He went thru the whole radiation thing 10 years ago and his PSA plunged. It climbed again about 2 years ago. Now, after a couple of years of hormonal therapy and low PSA, it's climbing again. His Doctor ordered a battery of tests to make sure it hasn't metastasized. Results coming before his birthday next week. If you believe in such, please say a prayer.
He's got great genes. My GrandDad lived to 102. My Dad is still sharp, cuts his own grass, and is very active. No other problems other than prostate cancer. I wish I wasn't 6 hours away and could get home more.
Anyway, I called him today, just the weekly call checking in, and his question damn near made me cry:
"Son, do you think we'll ever beat Bama again in my lifetime?"
So, the moral to the story is, have a sense of urgency. None of us are getting out of here alive. Enjoy every minute. I'm going out sliding into home plate head first. You never know when your time will be up.
And for those of you that say be "patient", and call me a Troll, or a NegaVol, please tell that to my Dad!
GBO!!!!!!!!!
