For your support during these trying times I not only lost my father I lost my mentor. My dad touched people wherever he went. Here is what was written about him:

My fellow Principal friends realize that there is a special bond between themselves and their Plant Manager. Each has the other's back 24/7. Many times (summer and snow days) they are/were the only two in the building.

That is why the sudden accidental death of Scott Gatewood Sr. has hit me so hard. It's like losing my right hand, a good friend, a mutual admirer, a strong Christian.

I'll never forget how patriotic he was and how he shared his patriotism with the students at Ellendale.

Although a lot of planning went into honoring him on Veterans Day, he deserved every minute and dollar spent to return to him the kindness that he shared with us. I'll never forget that day, especially every Ellendale Bear marching in the parade around the neighborhood. We borrowed a cart from the local golf course for him, but he insisted on walking in front.

Scott, you were so loved. We were so blessed to have you in our lives. You will be so missed by so many.

Prayers for peace and comfort for your wonderful family and hundreds of friends as we all grieve together.
