Hello, all.
While we're all waiting to see which of our Vols manages to be picked in the upcoming rounds [fingers crossed] with the requisite drum roll and fanfare, I thought it was a fitting time to offer a selection of my own. While it's in the later "rounds" of this quasi "series" of mine, it probably is considered by most to be a first round pick.
And now I'll stop with the NFL Draft puns shtick and simply recommend a great comedy that I first saw when the administration at my high school decided to play it over the Channel One TVs that we had in our rooms... on the last day of semester prior to Christmas Break. You guessed it, today's recommendation is:
NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION
From IMDb, the plot is about how "The Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster."
Oh, man... I'm sure some of you are inclined to crucify me for not having gone with the gold standard of the National Lampoon's series, ANIMAL HOUSE, but... well... yeah, I just didn't dig that one as much as the others on this list. It's a very solid comedy, yeah, but it simply didn't do the trick for me quite like others on this list have done. Funny is as much in the eye of the beholder as beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, I guess.
Anyway, it's an exercise in redundancy to share this flick's trailer, but I'm a fan of consistency, so here it is:
Yes, as you might have guessed, I'm not a cat person... but that bit of the trailer did give me an idea. Instead of prattling on about a flick you've probably seen so much that you can recite the entire script without notes, I thought I'd take a survey to see which of the following lines is the GQ's favorite. So, it'll be below the post, I'm guessing [Edit: whoops; it's above... oh, whale!]. Hope you enjoy a more participatory style of post, but I'm especially hopeful that you like the flick... in case you're the one person on the planet who hasn't seen it yet.
Seriously... I think even political prisoners in some North Korean gulag have seen this one.
Enjoy!
