So my wife talked to her mom on the way to work today and found out that for her birthday they are going to fly her mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and 2 nieces to stay at our place for a weekend. She really just wants to have a birthday where she can just hang out with her friends because her family always visits on her birthday weekend so she can't go out.
I have decided to be the good husband and if she is sure she doesn't want them to visit then I will come up with an excuse so all the blame can fall on me. Normally I would tell them that our house won't work with 9 people right now since half of it is being remodeled and we only have one shower at the moment. I don't think a house under a big remodel is a good place for toddlers. This just seems to be a minor inconvenience for them that won't matter (until they get here and complain about it all weekend). Hotels are also out because they don't see why they should have to pay because that's what family is for.
So I am going with my next reasonable course of action and coming to the GQ to get ideas on how to make this weekend not happen. I figure the brain trust around here can come up with something to prevent this weekend from happening.
