My back yard is torn up because I have two big dogs who like to play rough and after the snow/ice in Nashville here this year they just destroyed what grass was previously there. Now that it's just a bunch of a dirt in a semi-shaded area, what's my best plan of action to get some grass back growing there cheaply and quickly? My gut says to lay some seed, cover with hay to protect from the dogs, and then fertilize at some point. Am I on the right track? What type of seed/products should I go with?
I feel over the years I've seen a few knowledgable posts when it comes to lawn care, but I never much paid that much attention to them and unfortunately now I need some advice. Thanks in advance, lawn gurus.
