I get that he’s supposedly handcuffed by JG. But this is a coach that refuses to use motion, the middle of the field and constantly eschews the run for the pass (especially bad when one would argue that our QB is subpar).
I refuse to believe that our WRs are the only ones in the country that are too slow or weak to get open. Every other offense in the country can get WRs running free. I suppose when you don’t have to cover the middle of the field you can have 6 defenders clog the sidelines and take away the routes.
We could have had agameplan that just had Gray 6 yards over the middle all game king. Teams know we will not settle for that and instead want to throw 12 yard outs. If you’re scared your QB will throw it high ober thr middle, put someone else in. When Shrout or Bailey went in we still thread to the numbers.
Football has evolved into a game in which you suck the LBs up with the threat of a run and you hurt the defense in those vacated positions. Chaney still thinks, or seems to, that offensive football is built upon power football and then throwing to the sidelines to mitigate risk.
Yes, JG is limited. Then let’s stop asking him to make the toughest throws in the game.
