...he's very much a tweener; not quite fast enough for WR, not really big enough to make an impact at TE, and he doesn't seem to fit the mold of FB. So where does he play?
In many ways, he reminds of of Quincy Prigmore (Old Vols will know the name), from Cleveland, TN. Prigmore was a HS QB, who came to Tennessee, with a plan to move to WR. By the time he left The Hill, he'd played WR, DB, and LB...and never really settled into any of them, or made much of an impact, except on coverage units.
I hope Fant can find a way to carve a real nitch at TE. You'd like a little more size there...but if he's sitting at home like all of us, maybe he's eating himself into a bigger player (kidding).
Other players that come to mind, who never really found a home are Ronnie Pillow (bounced between RB and WR), Sinclair Cannon (may have played more positions than Prigmore), and Derrick Ainsley (I think the last name is right. Fast RB from Georgia, who bounced between WR and RB).
