Overall, what a piss poor decade of Tennessee football, but there were moments here and there. Here’s my rankings.
1. 2016: horrible ending, but to beat Florida and Georgia to move to 5-0 was the best feeling of the decade for me. I will forever hate South Carolina because of this season.
2. 2015: Probably the best team of the 2010’s. Should’ve been the first of back to back East titles. Could’ve gone undefeated when you think about it. Outback Bowl and Georgia game were the best moments, and luckily I was able to attend both. Evan Berry was incredible.
3. 2019: Biggest roller coaster season I’ve ever experienced, but a great comeback year. 1st conference record above .500 since 2007. Only game I attended was the UK game, sat in the Vol section and both touchdowns were right in front of us. Amazing how cocky and stupid UK fans are. They thought they had it in the bag after the first quarter. I had to tell one particularly annoying one that this wasn’t basketball, there are 4 quarters and 60 minutes. South Carolina was probably the most enjoyable game to watch. Indiana game took years off my life. Ending Vandy’s streak (puke) was a relief. Jauan was an animal.
2014: Mediocre season, but the bowl game against Iowa and the South Carolina comeback were great. Emergence of Dobbs, Barnett, Sutton and Hurd.
Now onto the teams below .500 and time to pour myself a drink.
2018: UK game was incredible. There were probably 35,000 UK fans who drove back up I-75 with nothing to show for it
. To just destroy UK’s best team ever made up for a lot of the pain of 2018. I also got to attend our first win vs Auburn since 1999 and our first win on Duh Plains since 1998. But those were the only highlights. Florida game was awful. Bama game was awful. West Virginia game was awful. Mizzou game was awful.
2013: UK game was fun. South Carolina game was the best. Only good moments, though. That Florida game was the most embarrassing Florida game of the decade. Got punked by a 4-8 Gator team. Awful.
2012: UK game, NC State game and CP84. Only good moments.
2010: Beat Vandy and last year of the UK streak. Yippie. Bowl game against UNC still has me pissed off. And that LSU game.....unfortunately the decade’s microcosm.
2011: Terrible year. Lost to UK. Enough said.
2017: 0-8! A DISGRACE!!! The only season I’ve been embarrassed to be a UT fan. Screw you, Butch Jones.
