Since there aren’t any live sports on TV to watch I have been going back & watching old sports games. In 1998 I was 10 years old, I have a few memories that I can still vividly see but for the most part I just remember key parts of that season. I have never watched all of the games from that season all of the way through.

So far I am through 5 games & about to start the Alabama game, wanted to put a few thoughts on her to see what you guys thought & to read some of you’re memories from that season.

1) IMO, if we had a more capable back up I don’t know if Tee makes it through that whole season as the starter. He wasn’t very good through 5 games. Yes he made a few plays here & there but watching those first 5 games it seemed like he left a lot of big plays on the field by being inaccurate & not smart with the ball

2) You could see the defense had talent but outside of the Houston game they gave up a ton of points & big plays until the UGA game. They completely shut UGA down. But they created enough TO’s to help in the wins against Syracuse, Florida, & Auburn (the defense almost let Auburn come back & tie that game at the end of regulation)

3) How big was Chris Ramseur for this team through 5 games!?! Stepped in & made some plays in the Florida game, played well in the Houston game after Wilson went down with the injury, & played really well in the Auburn game w/o Wilson.

if he doesn’t get kicked off the team does he make a difference for this defense in 1999?!

4) Peerless just made plays, he was so good. Just a big time difference maker

5) Watching these games I had no idea how big of an impact Travis Stephens made on this team. I knew he was on the roster but I never really knew he was the de facto starter for a few games after J. Lewis went down with his ACL. You could see the talent Stephens had immediately.

6) That front 7 on D was SPECIAL. My goodness were we LOADED up front.

I also never realized how big of an impact Will Overstreet made as a true freshmen.

7) I though that in the first few games of that season that Steve Johnson was the best CB on the field, but then Goodrich started coming on & making plays.
