so from following around on Twitter it appears that Rick Barnes was present for 3 players this weekend: Tre Mann, Isaiah Stewart and Josiah James. They had assistants watching other guys but from all accounts that appeared to be the guys Barnes personally was in attendance for. For starters, to your knowledge is that accurate, or was there other recruits?
On a related note, it didn’t appear as though Tennessee was present (if they were not often), for Team Thad’s KyKy Tandy which is someone they seemingly were in a pretty decent spot for heading into the weekend. Same with Kira Lewis and Marcus Watson, unless it just wasn’t reported it didn’t sound as though Barnes or even assistants watched those guys play with the GA Stars this weekend.
So here’s my conspiracy/thought process and I am curious on your take...on the surface the above information would not make sense, you would think we would be present for those guys like we were Week 1, however...with 4 scholarships available as of today for the 2019 class, is it possible? They feel good about bringing in Burns, whether it’s for 18 or 19, they have Gaines already in the boat, and coming off the official visit they feel very strongly about their chances with Mann? If those 3 things are true then it the above information makes much more sense, those 4 scholarships quickly drop to 1...which if that is the case swinging for the fences on either Isaiah Stewart or Josiah James would make a ton of sense.
So I’m curious as to your thoughts on this, first off the beginning part and if you know of any other guys Barnes watched, if he did then obviously that shoots a major hole in my theory. However if he didn’t, do you believe it could be in large part due to the reasons I listed? I’m hopeful this is the case and we just aren’t seeing the beginning of what appeared to be a promising 2019 class starting to fall apart; Kira Lewis feeling love from UK, KyKy Tandy says Cincinnati is standing out, Marcus Watson getting a lot of attention from Georgia Tech.
TIA @Rob Lewis
