I coached baseball at the high school level for two years before I got out of it because of parents, and their constant meddling. I loved the job & the kids, but couldn’t take the parents. It just wasn’t worth the headache.

Since cell phones/social media have become the forces they are, they’ve ruined some good coaches & teachers. I used to think the job rewards outweighed the negatives in terms of pay, but in no way is that true. Parents are exponentially worse than ever, and it just runs off on their kids. There’s zero discipline anymore. Even more so at home

I actually got suspended 2 games the last season I coached because I made a kid run 10 foul poles after a game, because he was talking about Taco Bell during our team meeting while I was talking. His mom got mad. Called the principal. Small investigation. Had to sit out a game. Because I made a kid run after a game. True story. Apparently I singled him out

Coach Blevins at Bearden got ran off. Now the Brainerd coach got out of it. At the high school level there is going to be a SEVERE drop off in coaching as we go forward because of all this
