It's hard to imagine that we are forced to start Letroy Lewis at 250 pounds at DT, Elliot Berry at linebacker (inexperienced), and a true Frosh and Soph at Safety (Warrior and Abernathy). Add in a banged up DKjr and a high tempo Missouri offense and we got steamrolled. I believe that history shows you can play a talented young player and they will do ok provided they are surrounded with experience. Our defense went from a team with a lot of talent and experience to a team with few snaps and mixed on talent. Kirkland was great when he was lined up next to JRM. Vickers is good with Tuttle or O'Brien next to him in the middle. Abernathy is better when TK Jr is next to him. Gaulden is talented but not experienced. Then it gets even worst when you go to the two deep and/or a 4-3 instead of nickel. It's pretty miserable.
The coaches have to fix whatever communications problems and alignment issues were going on against Mizzou but I don't see how they fix the other issues this year. The bowl practice should help the younger and less experienced players but some of the same issues will still be there. JMO.
