When Appy state went up on us...and then V tech went up on us, FL was up on us. Everyone said Shoop made great adjustments, and maybe he did, but we played those games with most of the Defense intact. When the injuries started piling up, the defense went into the tank totally, and by the end of the year we couldn't stop anyone. I think the problems were: complicated scheme had the players thinking too much and out of position a lot/injuries. Then as the year went on, we had less talented players who never get reps having to play that same complicated scheme. We didn't really simplify it. We kept blitzing, leaving guys one on one, leaving gaping holes for the opposing run games.
I don't know what to think of Shoop yet, but I think the defense will settle down more in year 2 as they learn it better. If he sticks around.
