OK, so your team is ahead by 3 or 4 points with less than 15 seconds on the shot clock. The opposing team is bringing the ball up court. Why not foul them in the backcourt or as soon as they cross the center line? Then the best they can do is get 2 points on free throws. This denies the opportunity for a 3 pointer and your team then gets the ball back. But I don't see any team committing a foul in that situation. What am I missing?
