Other top programs are hiring assistants while Butch waits to pick from what's left.
Is this bc the contracts might end at the end of December?
Is keeping the same coaching staff for the bowl game that important? Could the new staff members not come in and coach immediately?
Imo the earlier the better for targeting new players that who we hire might have the ability to flip to TN. Could this have been done the week after the Vandy loss?
Seems like Butch is fine waiting till Jan after the coaching convention and letting other schools take whoever they really want first. Doing this makes it even more competitive to land top assistants but also gives them less time to help us fill out this class (vs hiring them the week after the Vandy disaster)
