who is very close to the program. Our situation with Brumbaugh made me laugh some regarding the last comment. Unfortunately, it shows the impact having position coaches who truly know what they are doing and can coach players "up."
"Pittman has been a breath of fresh air after the last two guys. He’s probably only going to be as good as the coordinators be hires, yet I think he will get better talent overall and that may make the job more attractive eventually. My brother related a comment from an O lineman’s father. He said that the O lineman said he had learned more the last 6 months than he did his first two years in the program.
My brother also told me that when Pittman left (after Bielema missed a meeting with a Solomon Thomas, 4 star recruit who was down to Hogs and Stanford) that Bielema called Rex Ryan for a recommendation on OL coach. A friend of Ryan’s had been burned by Bielema. When Bielema asked about Ryan’s assistant OL coach, Kurt Anderson, Ryan gave a glowing recommendation knowing the guy wasn’t ready to take over at an SEC school. The OL has been horrible ever since."
