My son was with four or five friends the other day. Normally they pull out the football cards and start comparing, trading, etc.
I heard a whole big commotion going on in the other room, as my son seemed to be going after something pretty heavily - as one of the boys had a whole new box of cards that his dad had given him.
I heard a lot of "you are crazy", "this is so dumb", etc etc being thrown my sons way, as he appeared to be laying down some pretty good cards, trying to get this one card another kid had.
Pretty soon, the trade seemed to be struck, and my son picked up the one card he had apparently traded so hard for.... and proceeded to bring it over to me.
He hands it to me, and says "this is for you dad! I got him! (Saying to me and looking toward his friend) He cant be stopped"
I look down, and I'll be damned, its Jauan Jennings card with him in his Tennessee uniform. My son had just "sold the house" for that card, just to give to me.
Ive traded quite a bit of stuff over my lifetime, and been given a lot of gifts --- but that one might be the best thing someones ever given me.
Tennessee football has been down - but that guy, while he might not have been the most talented ever -- provided folks with 100% of what he had.
We watched that UGA game/finale and the FL game (breaking the streak) together -- and pretty soon we'll be back to watching another upset or two. I'm planning on it.
PS -- I have that football card now on my desk - and you couldnt give me all the money in the world for it.
