I keep hearing about in state recruiting being a fail. Can you guys point out which kids on our signed/commit list for '19 you would like us to cut or that you wish we didn't spend more time on? While thinking about that, also realizing that you're not going to bat 100% on kids you recruit, should we not have recruiting guys like Pappoe or Henry T?

I keep seeing that if we don't get Russell, our in state recruiting was a failure. I don't see it that way. In state recruiting is supposed to be preferable if the talent levels are about in range as out of state. And the theory is because it's supposed to be easier to recruit in state kids. It takes less resources. The kids have a natural draw. Well, at this point we don't. Those in state kids have to be recruited as hard, sometimes harder, than the out of state kids.

Sure, it's a miss if we don't get Russell. Just like it was a miss when we didn't flip Pappoe or if we don't get Henry T. But this narrative that "in state" recruiting was a failure is just incorrect. Which guys on our commit list would you replace? Would you rather have a guy like Washington over McCollough, just because he's in state? No matter if the staff didn't think his size fit the profile. I'm genuinely curious about this.
