I've read the treads about how Canales is a terrible choice so I decided look into his numbers. He was the OC/QB/AHC at N Texas for 6 years so I browsed through those numbers. I don't really know much about the Mean Green so I was expecting to be impressed with the offensive production.
I haven't compiled the stats but overall they were unimpressive. Roughly speaking over the 6 seasons:
Scoring/Game Average ranged from 15 to 32 points per game but mostly in the 24 points/game range.
Passing TD to Interception ratio was essentially 1:1 over the 6 years.
First Downs runs vs. pass was close to 50/50.
If I get time later I may compile the key stats year by year but overall it left me less than impressed.
But I hope if he gets the job then he does a great job is hugely successful. Tennessee needs it to work out.
