I don't know if this has been discussed on CoronaQuest or not. There has been a lot of speculation as to when Covid 19 first appeared in the U.S. I contend that since China was slow to report the problem to the world, it is likely that a lot of people had mild cases without even knowing it.
I for one am an example. I developed a severe dry cough in January. I went to the doctor and tested negative for flu. They gave me a prescription for antibiotics and cough medicine. The cough lingered for weeks and I finally kicked it a week or so ago and started convincing myself that I had had Covid. My daughter in law sent me a text over the weekend that read as follows: "Who got sick in November or December with the worst cough that wouldn't go away? If you can answer yes to that, then you probably had the corona virus. There were no tests for Covid at the time and the flu virus tests came back negative anyway. They called it an upper respiratory infection". I don't know the source of the quote, and yes I know everything on the internet is not true.
I also know a nurse practitioner who works in a pediatricians office. She has the same theory. She said that prior to Covid 19 information starting to come out, they saw numerous patients that had flu like symptoms but almost no positive flu tests. She thinks the kids also had Covid and never knew it.
Maybe some of the doctors on VQ would like to comment. I'd like to hear their opinions.
