Sharon Katz:
On a neutral field, FPI projects that Tennessee and Oklahoma are basically equal, so the main reason Tennessee is favored is that the game is in Knoxville. The obvious next question is why the teams are considered equal when Tennessee hasn't won more than seven games in a season since 2007. FPI sees that Tennessee returns 18 starters, including quarterback Joshua Dobbs, and has a talented roster after signing back-to-back top-five recruiting classes. Last year, Tennessee did not return a single starter along its offensive or defensive line, and that inexperience showed in the third game of the season. As one of the most-experienced teams in the nation, Tennessee will not be intimated by the big stage.
